The Birmingham chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International is taking applications through Friday for grants to be awarded to women pursuing a degree in a food-related field or starting a food-related business.
Scholarship applications are open to any female student accepted to or attending an Alabama higher education institution or trade school and majoring in a food-related field such as culinary arts, nutrition, hospitality or agricultural sciences.
Grant applications are open to Alabama female business owners in the food, culinary or hospitality industries.
Application for both must be filled out online by Friday.
Since launching nine years ago, LDEI has given more than $200,000 in grants and scholarships to women across Alabama, including more than 50 scholarships. This year’s awards will raise that to $250,000.
The Birmingham chapter of LDEI has more than 100 leaders and experts in food, nutrition, beverage, hospitality and related industries dedicated to growing, promoting and sharing local food culture.
