University of Mount Union: Emily Dunn of Medina will perform with the University of Mount Union Marching Band during a showcase on Nov. 22 in Brush Performance Hall, located in the Giese Center for the Performing Arts.
The marching band, under the direction of Jeff Neitzke, will perform its Pregame Show and Soul of R&B Show, which includes works from Earth, Wind, and Fire and Ted White and Aretha Franklin, among others. The band will also perform their Homecoming and Senior Shows with works by Pharell Williams, Mark James, Rage Against the Machine and more.
*On Oct. 18 and 19 Leonel Sanchez Torres of Medina presented research at the American Physics Society Eastern Great Lakes Fall 2024 Conference at Marietta College.
The presenters included Emily Borroni ’25, who presented The Effect of Gravitational, Drag, Magnus, and Coriolis Forces on a Roundball Bullet; Leo Sanchez Torres ’25, who presented Advancing Atomic Modeling: Integration of Computational Clusters and Neural Network Techniques; and Shawn Powers ’25, who presented Fabrication of Ferroelectric Tunnel Junctions for Applications in Non-Volatile Memory.
The University of Findlay: Samuel Oliver of Valley City was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at The University of Findlay.
Oliver is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10% of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.
