Numerous local organizations and businesses have announced application deadlines for local scholarships.
Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center Foundation will accept applications until March 21 for the Dr. William G. Mehos Scholarship.
The scholarship awards $1,250 to a 2025 graduating high school senior who lives in the Salida Hospital District, which includes Chaffee, Saugache and western Fremont counties, a press release stated. Applicants must be accepted to a college or university for fall 2025 and plan to major in healthcare.

Other scholarships are open to students attending Salida High School or Horizons Exploratory Academy, with each one having specific requirements to apply.
The Order of the Sons and Daughters of Italy Lodge No. 1309 scholarship is open to seniors of Italian heritage, a press release stated.
The $500 scholarship may be used toward college or a trade or vocational school. Applicants must complete a personal statement giving a brief history of their Italian heritage, why they are proud to be Italian-Americans and why they deserve the scholarship.
Students should include their name, address, email and phone number as well as their personal statement, one or two referral letters, a resume including work and volunteer experience and high school transcripts showing the classes they took while in high school and their grades.
Students should email their information to mlpuj6@gmail.com no later than April 25, including “Sons of Italy Scholarship” in the subject line. If they go to SHS they can also give it to their high school counselor.
The review committee will evaluate all applications after April 25, and the winner will be chosen and contacted in May.

The Rotary Club of Salida will accept applications until noon April 10 for its 2025 scholarships, awarding up to $16,000 in $1,000 or $2,000 increments.
The scholarships are open to seniors who plan on attending an accredited college, university, vocational, technical school or similar school no later than fall 2025 or early January 2026, a press release stated.
Applicants must graduate before July 1. Students who graduated in December 2024 are also eligible.

Salida Sunrise Rotary is also accepting applications from students who are graduating from high school this spring or are currently attending a college, community college, vocational or technical school or university. Priority is given to students with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and plan on furthering their education in Colorado.
Applications must be received by 5 p.m. April 11. Details and applications can be found on the Salida Sunrise Rotary website, salidasunriserotary.com.
These scholarships are provided through the Salida Sunrise Rotary Charitable Fund, which includes funds raised through Holiday Park, the Lucky Ducky Race and Chaffee Home and Garden Show.
