The Progress
The Mesquite Community Educational Foundation (MCEF) teamed up with Panda Express for a fundraiser on March 7.
Twenty percent of each order went towards the Virgin Valley High School seniors scholarship fund. A flyer was emailed to school teachers and posted on Facebook to increase awareness of the fundraiser in Mesquite.
The MCEF is a local nonprofit 501(3) whose purpose is to collect funding for scholarships for Virgin Valley High School’s graduating seniors. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000. Panda Express was one fundraiser for the Class of 2025.
The next fundraising opportunity for the community to engage in will take place on Tuesday, March 25 at Virgin Valley High School. “Back To The Good Old Days” will be an evening of nostalgia, dinner and entertainment. There will be raffles, prizes and silent auction items. Participants will enjoy dance and musical performances, as well as Drive N-Diner delectables. Tickets are $25 per individual or $35 per couple. Ticket purchases can be made at Danielle’s Chocolates & Popcorn, the City of Mesquite Recreation Center and Virgin Valley High School.
One hundred percent of all funds raised at this event will be given to graduating seniors who apply for the awards. Applications are carefully reviewed based on need and merit.
The MCEF supports the following post-high school plans: accredited college and university; mechanical, vocational and trade training programs; professional legal, medical and cosmetology plans and on-the-job apprentice programs that require tuition.
The MCEF welcomes support from local merchants and individuals. All donations are tax deductible. For further information about fundraising events, visit www.mesquitecefscholarships.org or for donations, Venmo @MCEF-Scholarships-NV
