The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Grand Rapids Area) is sponsoring a $2000 scholarship for the 2025-26 school year at Minnesota North College—Itasca Campus. Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria: enroll full-time (12+ credits) in the Minnesota North College Psychology/Human Services program, have a 2.5 GPA, be a graduate of an area high school or a non-traditional student living in the Itasca County area, and be a first or second year student. The goal of this scholarship is to help address the lack of mental health providers in the region. Recent Minnesota legislative changes now make it possible for graduates with an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree in Psychology/Human Services to be Mental Health Practitioners. This allows MNC graduates to enter the workforce sooner and earn a higher salary. This NAMI scholarship will be administered through the Grand Rapids Area Community
Foundation with access to the application through their web site from January 1—March 1. (https://gracf.org/scholarships/) For more information, contact NAMI Grand Rapids Area at 218-999-7658 or the Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation at 218-999-9100.
