High school students in Michigan now have a chance to win a scholarship if they convince their peers not to drive distracted.
Four juniors and seniors will be awarded a total of $5,000 from Michigan Auto Law. Submissions can be a graphic, a Tik Tok video, or a Youtube video. Brandon Hewitt with Michigan Auto Law says the videos should be short, but able to drive the message home.
“Students, we know don’t want to listen to us old people talk and lecture at them about what they should and shouldn’t do,” Hewitt said. “They’re going to listen to each other, and so some of the factors that we’re going to look at is their ability to persuade others, especially teen drivers, to stop texting and driving. Also, you know, obviously grab attention. It should be a clear and understandable message. Get your point across.”
Submissions are due by March 21. You can find out more right here.
