In the school year 2023-24, the NSP implemented an optional face-authentication service. Students who finished the face-authentication process were assigned an OTR number, which they received via SMS on their registered cellphone numbers. These students can apply directly for scholarships through the NSP portal. If a student does not get their OTR number by SMS, they can retrieve it through the NSP’s “Know your OTR” option.
Students who passed the OTP-based eKYC but did not complete face-authentication during the academic year 2023-24 were granted a reference number. To acquire their OTR number, applicants need to go through the face-authentication process on the NSP portal.
Follow the steps below to generate the OTR number.
Beneficiaries are shortlisted and selected depending on their merit and income. The state education departments carry out the selection process by the rules established by the MHRD.
