As it comes time for Wareham High School seniors to make a college decision, the South Coast Community Foundation wants to help make that decision a little easier by providing Wareham students the opportunity to apply for over $800,000 in college scholarships.
The South Coast Community Foundation is a New Bedford based non-profit dedicated to helping people in need across the South Coast and they have a variety of Wareham specific scholarships that are accepting applications until Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The scholarships are as follows:
The Georgia and Constantine Decas Family Scholarship and the George C. Decas Scholarship – Up to $20,000, distributed over four years, to graduating high school seniors who reside in Wareham.
Manuel S. Pina Scholarship – Up to $10,000 to assist qualified Cape Verdean high school students to attend college. Awards will be made over four years to students of Cape Verdean descent from Wareham High School, Old Rochester Regional High School, and New Bedford High School.
John A. Conway, MD Scholarship – Up to $2,500 for seniors at Wareham High School who excel in math or science or plan to pursue a degree in a STEM field at an accredited 4-year college or university.
Sgt. Ronald Bumpus Memorial Scholarship – Approximately $1,700 for graduating seniors of Wareham High School. Preference will be given to students pursuing a degree in physical education, physical therapy, or a related field.
Sandra L. Castaldo Decas Scholarship – Approximately $1,000 for graduating seniors of Wareham High School who will continue their education in the arts.
Ann M. Pappi Memorial Scholarship – Approximately $1,000 for graduating seniors of Wareham High School. Preference is given to students who will be the first in their families to attend college, but this is not required.
