Some amazing achievements for students of Pickens County. Ten students received scholarships to Alabama A&M University.
The university’s scholarship bus stopped in Reform. They were there to award students from Pickens County, Gordo, and Aliceville High Schools with scholarships.
The students received up to $25,000 worth of scholarships.
They are excited about the opportunity to go to college, knowing they do not have to worry as much about the cost.
“This means a lot to me because I’ve always wanted to go to a HBCU and this is my opportunity to where I can go there and when I first,” said Gordo High senior Jordyn Murphy. “Like my first college tour was Alabama A&M and when I went there, I was taken by it.”
“I was happy. I told my mom, she was happy. My whole family came,” said Pickens County High senior Jaden Richardson. “I applied to the college of social study. I plan to attend there and find a career path in social study.”
School leaders praised the work the students and teachers have done to achieve these goals and hope the community will continue to rally behind them.
