Albertville High School senior softball star Adison Pierce receives support from her family, coaches and the AHS administration as she signs to continue her career at Snead State. Pierce, the Aggies’ pitcher for the last three seasons, was selected as an All-Area player three times and finished last season with a .350 batting average.
Albertville High School senior Adison Pierce was presented an athletic scholarship to play for Snead State on Wednesday. “I have been praying a lot about it,” Pierce said. “With Snead being so close to home, being able to be here and being surrounded by close friends and family, it was really just the right decision for me,” Pierce said.
Pierce has had an outstanding playing career as an Aggie, as Pierce was selected as an All-Area player three times and finished last season with a .350 batting average. Pierce has also been able to get the job done in the classroom, as she currently holds a 4.2 GPA.
Matt Lambert, the Athletic Director at Albertville High School, presented the athletic scholarship to Pierce.
“I thank everyone for coming out today. It is a big deal for a big-time young lady. I just want to say congratulations to not only Adison, but to her entire family, to her coaches, to her teammates and Albertville High School.
“This is a very special thing. I say this every single time that when we have something like this, when you get a chance to play sports after high school, that is a big deal. There is a very small percentage of kids that get to do that.
“We are extremely proud of you and we are extremely proud of the hard work you’ve put in to make this happen, because being a softball pitcher is not easy. It takes a ton of work and a ton of time to be able to be consistent. The good ones get paid off for it. I appreciate all of the hard work you have put in, and I know your teammates appreciate you being on the team.
“You are not only a good player, but you are an awesome student and you are one of the faces of Albertville. It is my honor to be able to open this up and congratulate you on behalf of Albertville High School,” Lambert said.
Torre Aaron, the Albertville High School varsity softball head coach, bragged on Pierce before she officially signed her scholarship.
“I want to brag on Adison real quick, because she has been our varsity pitcher for the past three years. She is a three-time All-Area player; she was our 2024 AHS Team MVP by far and she was named in the Top 50 of pitchers in the area from The Gadsden Times. She had a batting average of over .350 last year and what I am proud of the most is that she has an overall GPA of 4.2,” Aaron said.
Pierce is ready to start her first season at Snead State, as she is excited to see what God has in store for her.
“Honestly, I just want to have fun. I am so excited, I feel like I have made it as far as I can in high school, so I am excited to see what God has planned for now.
“I was really excited about today. I was excited to be around everyone and just being able to celebrate my accomplishment. I was more excited than I was nervous,” Pierce said.
