The Palm Springs Writers Guild (PSWG) will award a scholarship in 2025 to a college-bound writer in the Coachella Valley. Students can submit their entry between Feb. 14, 2025, and March 21, 2025. Details on how to apply are available at palmspringswritersguild.org/scholarship.
The PSWG scholarship program has been awarding scholarships to college-bound writers since 2011. Recent winners attended local high schools, including Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Desert Hot Springs and Coachella Valley.
Vivien White, a recipient of the guild’s 2025 scholarship award, says: “I am taking a rhetoric and composition class — my writing skills are coming in handy! I thank the guild for its generosity. My education wouldn’t be possible without the scholarship.”
This year, the guild will award at least one $2,000 scholarship and is asking the public for donations to add to that fund and support more students. Visit palmspringswritersguild.org/scholarship to learn more.
This Palm Springs Writers Guild scholarship supports the goals of local high schools to inspire young writers. College-bound students must submit two essays, one demonstrating the importance of writing to them and the second about a community service experience that had a positive impact on them.
The Palm Springs Writers Guild is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to developing and supporting Coachella Valley writers. The organization provides a range of programs to all levels of writers based on a philosophy of inclusion and respect for the diversity of membership.
