Rutherford County, TN – The Rutherford Arts Alliance is doing some great work to support arts education in Rutherford County, Tennessee! They’re creating a scholarship for economically disadvantaged K-12 students to help them participate in school arts programs.
Rutherford Arts Alliance Executive Director Jeff Lysyczyn said, “Breaking down barriers to students’ participation in the arts will bolster their success in all areas of life. The scholarship aims to remove financial barriers and ensure students have access to arts programs such as band, chorus, theater, visual, literary, culinary, graphic, and other media.”
Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are due before Friday, March 28th, and awards are currently capped at $100. The funds will be paid directly to vendors providing the goods or services, and students’ financial need is confirmed by qualification for free or reduced lunch.
The scholarship fund has been seeded with a $1,350 grant from the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, and additional funds will be raised through grants, fundraisers, and donations.
The public is encouraged to donate to this fund via the Rutherford Arts Alliance Website. Also, K-12 arts teachers in Rutherford County are being offered a free one-year membership to the RAA as part of their growing relationship.
