(WJAR) — The Rhode Island Foundation announced it will be offering $4 million in scholarships this year.
Officials said organizational donors and individuals have established scholarship funds to help students cover the cost of tuition, fees and books.
“Our scholarships can help students and their families bridge gaps that might seem overwhelming,” the foundation’s President and CEO David Cicilline said. “This aid can make dreams come true for the students who get the help and the donors who make it possible. The results of their generosity will be felt for years as these young people make their marks in the workplace and in their communities.”
According to Rhode Island Foundation, hundreds of scholarships are available, including in specific fields such as marine affairs, nursing, communications and the jewelry industry.
The scholarships run up to $60,000 over four years.
Officials said all Rhode Island students are eligible to apply.
Most of the scholarships have a deadline of April 14.
More about the scholarships can be found on the Rhode Island Foundation website.
