The Rotary Club of Jupiter/Tequesta recently announced that they will be awarding $37,500 in scholarships to area high school seniors.
After running several successful fund raisers, the Jupiter/Tequesta Rotary club announced that they are looking to award $30,000 in academic scholarships. In addition, the Rotary club in cooperation with Boyhan American Heritage Scholarship will be awarding $7500 for vocational scholarship.
“It always amazes me,” Rotary spokesman Joe Gaudet offered, “that more seniors don’t apply for scholarships. I think too many of them believe that if they aren’t in the top ten of their class they have no chance of winning. Nothing could be further from the truth. Students with a weighted grade average of 3.0 have just as much of a chance as a student with weighted grade average of 6.0.”
Rotary Scholarship committee member Cary Moore also pointed out, “All students shouldn’t feel pressured to go to a four-year university. Today, in this country, there is a tremendous need for more vocationally trained workers. Plumbers, air conditioning specialists, fire fighters, welders, and a host of other occupations pay from $39,000 to $57,000 to start. Not only that but getting certified in most of these fields can be accomplished in two years or less. In some fields, you can complete your courses in a year or less.”
The Jupiter/Tequesta Rotary club will be offering six $2000 scholarships, one $3000 scholarship, and one $5000 scholarship. The club is also offering between $2500 and $5000 in vocational scholarships.
The deadline to apply is March 10th, 2025. The application can be found on the Club’s website – jupiterrotary.com under “documents.” The application will detail all the information on what supporting documentation needs to be submitted at the same time and where to submit it.
