The Katie Brommenschenkel Vilmo Scholarship, hosted by the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, is seeking qualified applicants to apply for the 2025 scholarship round.
The annual scholarship supports students from school districts in the NMF’s service area – including the Red Lake Nation, White Earth Nation, the counties of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau, and Hillsboro, N.D. – who are pursuing a postsecondary education majoring in agriculture, ag education or agri-business.

The scholarship was established in memory of Katie Brommenschenkel Vilmo to honor her passion for farm life. Katie enjoyed a simple life of hard work and gratitude while she and her husband, Mike, worked on their family’s farms. One of her favorite quotes states, “Each person is given the gift of time on this earth to live, to learn, to love and to leave a legacy.”

The Neen’s Future in Space Scholarship, hosted by the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, is seeking qualified applicants to apply for the 2025 scholarship round.
Eligible students are graduates of a school district in the NMF’s service area – including the Red Lake Nation, White Earth Nation, the counties of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau – who intends to enter their junior or senior year in postsecondary education or post-graduate study majoring in science, math, technology or engineering, with preference for students entering a career in astrophysics, aeronautical engineering or aerospace.
Financial need will be considered but is not an eligibility requirement. Students will have a minimum of a “B” grade-point average, or equivalent, and show a willingness to earn a minimum of a bachelor’s degree. Previous recipients may reapply for a second-year scholarship; scholarship renewals are not guaranteed.
Scholarship applications are due by May 31. To apply online, visit www.nwmf.org and click “Grants & Scholarships.” The application will require transcripts, two letters of recommendation and a short essay regarding the student’s non-work experience, internships and/or community involvement.
The Park Rapids Garden Club is offering a $750 scholarship toward a degree emphasizing horticulture – including related fields such as landscape design and agriculture.

Recipients must be a current or former high school graduate from Menahga, Nevis or Park Rapids schools.
The scholarship is funded by plant sales at the Park Rapids Farmers Market during the first two Saturdays of June.

The family of Cody Holte is now seeking applicants for the Cody Holte Scholarship Fund, hosted by the Northwest Minnesota Foundation (NMF).
The scholarship supports students from districts within the NMF service area – including the Red Lake Nation, White Earth Nation, the Minnesota counties of Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Kittson, Lake of the Woods, Mahnomen, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake, and Roseau, and the Ulen-Hitterdal and Hillsboro school districts of North Dakota – who are majoring in an area of law enforcement or criminal justice, have been involved in ROTC or who have been a high school student enlisted with the national guard or military.
The scholarship was established by Holte’s family to honor his memory and assist students in the region with the same passions he had. Holte was a loving husband and family man who tragically died in service to his community as a law enforcement officer. Proceeds from an annual softball tournament go toward the scholarship fund.
