Lebanon High School seniors Erin Hiller and Eric Natterer were presented with Presidential Scholarships from Oregon State University. The students will each receive $10,000 a year while attending OSU.
According to the OSU website, the Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious and competitive scholarship available with awards as high as $40,000 ($10,000 per year) for new resident freshmen students attending the Corvallis or Bend campuses. Recipients also received added perks, such as priority registration and ZipCar membership for one year.
They are evaluated on their accomplishments, contributions, experiences and talents, as well as their social and personal achievements and participation in activities that demonstrate academic potential, leadership abilities, and commitment to service.
To be eligible for consideration, students must have at least a 3.85 unweighted GPA and/or a minimum 4.20 weighted high school GPA. Of 3,000 eligible students, only 145 recipients were selected for the scholarship, equating to about 4% of all eligible students who were selected.
