OKANOGAN – The Okanogan Senior Center enjoyed a visit from the four scholarship award winners during the students’ winter break.
The four 2024 Okanogan graduates fulfilled their requirements of the scholarship by returning to the senior center during the nutritional mealtime dinner as special guest speakers.
They each shared some past high school activity achievements and new college activities to expand their experience in their new college life.
All of them expressed gratitude for family and friends support to make the transition of being self reliant and responsible for their daily schedule and academic challenges.
They expressed great appreciation for being chosen to receive the $1,000 scholarship that the Okanogan Senior Center presented to each of them.
Each honor roll student shared their career goals with us.
Lane Carlton is attending WSU in Pullman. His major is agricultural technology and production management. His goal is to be knowledgeable in all aspects of business and production to help his family maintain their successful business at Smallwood Farms.
Camden Peterson attended Montana Technological University in a technology lineman pre-apprenticeship program. He is now ready to apply to an apprenticeship program with a utility company. His goal is to be a traveling repair lineman and visit new areas in need of his training.
McCalla Chesledon is attending Gonzaga University in the registered nursing program. She wants to work in the medical field completing each level in the nursing program as far as she is able to go. She is dedicated to helping people and making their life more comfortable.
Paulina Naranjo is attending Gonzaga University in the nursing program, also. She wants to earn her degree and be part of the medical community to help others. With her multi language ability, she will be able to help interpret and give comfort to her patients.
Each of these students have expressed their desire to continue their education and become productive members of the next generation with their abilities and talents to help others in need.
The Okanogan Senior Center is very proud to support the young people of the Okanogan School District to pursue their dreams in whatever occupation they choose.
