Whiteland Community High School seniors must apply soon for a chance to win one of two $1,000 scholarships sponsored by the town.
Students who wish to pursue higher education, including trade schools, vocational schools, and two and four-year colleges and universities are eligible to apply for the Otto Lewis Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must plan to attend school in Indiana for their post-high school education.
The deadline to apply is March 21.
Applications should include a statement explaining why the student should be considered, a list of leadership and service activities, work experience and two letters of personal reference from community leaders, teachers, counselors or employers.
The scholarships will be awarded to students who have a heart for service and a passion for the community similar to Lewis.
“Otto Lewis always went above and beyond to help others. His compassion and heart were demonstrated through many years of service to the Whiteland community and school corporation,” the application states. “Always personally giving to the citizens and students of this community portraying profound values in leadership and service.”
Applicants should visit the town’s website or bit.ly/2025OttoLewis to apply.
