Eligibility

To apply to SJTU’s international programs, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must hold a high school diploma or above.
  2. Be a non-Chinese citizen holding a foreign passport.
  3. Comply with the regulations set by the Ministry of Education of China regarding international students.
  4. Meet specific program requirements, including language proficiency (Chinese or English based on the program).

Additionally, applicants must submit valid standardized test scores (e.g., SAT, ACT) or language proficiency certificates such as HSK for Chinese programs or TOEFL/IELTS for English-taught programs.

Scholarships

SJTU offers various scholarships for outstanding applicants, including:

  • Chinese Government Scholarship: Applicants should apply through their local Chinese Embassy or Consulate and select SJTU as their top choice.
  • SJTU Scholarships: Awarded based on academic excellence and interview performance. There are three levels of scholarships:
    • First-Class Scholarship: Covers full tuition, living expenses (2,500 CNY per month), accommodation, and insurance for four years.
    • Second-Class Scholarship: Covers tuition, accommodation (1,000 CNY per month), and insurance.
    • Third-Class Scholarship: Covers accommodation and insurance costs only.

May 31, 2025:  Deadline for self-supported applications

How to Apply

To apply, students need to follow these steps:

  1. Register and fill out the application form on the SJTU application system.
  2. Submit all required documents, including academic transcripts, recommendation letters, passport information, personal statements, and language certificates.
  3. Pay the application fee during the application period, which runs from December 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025.
  4. For certain programs, such as medicine, applicants must apply directly to the respective schools.

The admission decision will be based on a comprehensive evaluation of academic qualifications and interview performance.
