SOUTHINGTON – The Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA is taking sign-ups for the 20th annual Sloper Plunge and celebrating the milestone year for the community event.
The Sloper Plunge will be held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 22 at YMCA Camp Sloper at 1000 East St., Southington, with a backup date of March 1 set in case of inclement weather.
Teams of different community leaders leap into the frigid waters of Sloper Pond to raise money for camp scholarships during the popular event.
“It has been an outstanding fundraiser for the YMCA,” Mark Pooler, CEO of the Southington-Cheshire Community YMCA, said. “It has helped countless kids attend summer camp by providing assistance to families in need.”
The 2024 event raised $90,000 for camp scholarships.
