JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – The Single Parent Scholarship program held a ceremony to award scholarships to single parents.
The ceremony was held at the St. Bernards Auditorium on Sunday, March. 9.
97 recipients received scholarships to help further education and build a better future for their families.
Niki Baker was one of those recipients, she is pursuing a career in social work.
“It makes you feel grateful to know that there are people that are out there that are willing to help people like myself that are single parents,” Baker said. This is a struggle and going back to school is a huge decision and so them being able to come up with this scholarship fund specifically for single parents is a God send.”
Recipients were able to bring their families and there was an ice cream sundae bar. Over $130,000 total was awarded in scholarships.
