FENNIMORE, Wis. — Students from Southwest Wisconsin Technical College will receive scholarships a different way: rather than students filling out a scholarship application, Southwest Tech will fund students according to their individualized financial gaps, the college announced Monday.
Students build their own scholarship application by building their own success plans with the assistance of college staff.
According to the college, the first round of scholarship selection will begin soon, and it is set to continue at different times of the academic year. Students who are selected will be notified through their college email.
“Our main priority is to make sure our students have the resources necessary to graduate on time, and begin their careers as soon as possible,” said Dr. Jason Wood, Southwest Tech president. “This new scholarship model will identify specific student needs, and the funds will be allocated to offset those needs.”
Students must submit a FAFSA or be FAFSA-exempt to qualify for the 2025-26 scholarships.
It can give students ideas to help asses personal income and identify any financial gaps to see what additional support they can get, the school statement said.
