Supercademy, an online educational platform that uses advanced AI algorithms to offer personalised tutoring, and ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, through CaixaBank, have joined forces to transform the educational experience of 60 students at a school in the Usera neighbourhood of Madrid.
This collaboration offers beneficiaries free and unlimited access to the platform for one year, along with a digital tutor available 24/7.
This educational support represents an essential step towards alleviating the barriers faced by many families in vulnerable environments. The platform allows students to have an AI-based tutor available to them at no cost to advance their homework, improve their grades and build confidence in their academic abilities, with a 30% increase in their overall performance. Students also highlight the ease with which they resolve doubts and prepare for exams thanks to the digital tutor.
Juan Perteguer, co-founder and CEO of Supercademy, adds that ‘on many occasions, these students do not have the necessary resources to have a private tutor or to access tools to reinforce their learning. This programme seeks to change that reality, offering them the same opportunities that other children have. It is not only about improving their academic results, but also about making them feel that their efforts are worthwhile and that they can aspire to a better future’.
Patricia Almazán, Head of Social Action at CaixaBank in Madrid, shares that ‘this collaboration shows how artificial intelligence can be an ally to improve the education of those who need it most’. Patricia adds that ‘the “la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaBank are fighting for universal access to education and to combat the education gap through projects such as Supercademy, thanks to which 60 students have access to a digital tutor who not only accompanies them in their daily learning, but also helps them to overcome the limitations of their environment’.
According to the report ‘Inequality of opportunities in educational achievement in Spain and Europe’ by the Social Observatory of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation (2022), the socio-economic environment is a key factor that influences academic success and the risk of dropping out of school. Initiatives of this kind help to break this cycle, providing essential tools that generate positive changes in both students and their families.
