The Ipswich Music Art & Drama Association (IMADA) has awarded five scholarships to graduating Ipswich High School (IHS) students. Each received $1,500.
The awards “demonstrated commitment to one or more of the fine arts disciplines throughout their careers at IHS,” IMADA said. The scholarships are given to students who plan to continue fine arts study in some capacity after graduation. The scholarships are funded by donations from the community.
A “triple-threat” — extraordinary actor, singer, and competitive dancer — Clara Dos Santos is no stranger to the stage.
She has held leading roles in IHS Theatre Company and North Shore Music Theater (NSMT) productions, including in Chicago: Teen Edition, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Clue, and Legally Blonde: the Musical at IHS, and Mean Girls and Descendants at NSMT.
Dos Santos received the IHS Outstanding Achievement in Theater award and was nominated by the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild for her performances in Chicago and Legally Blonde.
In addition, she held a leadership role as section leader in the IHS Concert Choir and is a varsity athlete in volleyball.
Do Santos will attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, where she plans to major in musical theater.
Perry Moskowitz won the 2025 Robin Silverman Scholarship. This IMADA scholarship is funded by the Silverman family of Ipswich.
An accomplished musician, he has won several awards for piano performance, including at the Miclot International Music Competition, Sempre Musik Concerto Competition, Steinway Society of Massachusetts Piano Competition, and Irvine Conservatory International Music Competition.
In 2024, Moskowitx performed on National Public Radio as a “From the Top” fellow for classically trained young musicians.
As a talented violinist, he has been active in the IHS orchestra and chamber orchestra in addition to jazz band and chorus.
Moskowitz received the IHS Outstanding Progress in Orchestra award and has served the community by providing piano and violin recitals for seniors.
He will attend the Cleveland Institute of Music in Ohio, where he plans to major in piano performance.
A brilliant actor and singer, Binette has served in leadership roles as president of the IHS Theatre Company, president of IHS Concert Choir, and assistant director of the Ipswich Middle School Theatre Company. He was also an IHS chamber singer.
He has delivered thrilling performances in recent IHS Theatre Company productions such as Chicago: Teen Edition, Clue, and Legally Blonde: the Musical.
Binette received many accolades in high school, including for Outstanding Progress in Choral Music, Outstanding Achievement in Music and in Theater, and Achievement in the Art: Best Actor.
He was named to the Thespian Vice President List Scholar and nominated by the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild for his role in Clue. He also served as IMADA student ambassador as a senior.
Binette will attend the Hartt School at the University of Hartford, where he plans to major in actor training.
Chloe DeFrank has participated across IHS fine arts disciplines as a skilled and creative visual artist, actor, and singer.
She is a two-time winner of Ipswich’s “Art All Over” contest and received the 2022 Orchestra on the Hill Poetry Contest award.
In taking honors advanced portfolio, IHS’s most challenging visual art course, DeFrank’s teacher remarked on her dedication and ability to create hauntingly thought-provoking artwork.
In addition to creating art, she has held roles in the IHS Theatre Company’s productions of Clue, The Sound of Music, and Legally Blonde: the Musical. She has volunteered as a school mentor for the Ipswich Middle School Select Choir.
DeFrank will attend Suffolk University in Boston, where she plans to major in history. She intends to participate in college extracurricular theater and choir programs.
An accomplished musician, Harb has been a member of the IHS Jazz Band, wind ensemble, concert band, and symphony orchestra. He plays the trumpet, French horn, flugelhorn, and drum set.
He held a leadership role as IHS Concert Band president and has received several awards, including the IHS Outstanding Musician Award, MAJE Regional Outstanding Musicianship Award, and MAJE States Outstanding Musicianship Award.
Harb is a student musician athlete, plays varsity golf and baseball, and is a member of the IHS robotics team.
He will attend Syracuse University in New York, where he plans to major in biomedical engineering. He intends to participate in college jazz ensembles and extracurricular music opportunities.
