HAMMOND – Three Southeastern Louisiana University accounting students have been awarded scholarships from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board. Eden Dardeau of Lafayette, Zoe Jones of Baton Rouge, and Thomas Samuel of Hammond each received a $15,000 scholarship.
Southeastern had more student scholarships awarded than any other school in the state and no school in the country had more winners than Southeastern.
The scholarships are awarded to students who have chosen to pursue careers in accounting and investor protection. Scholarship recipients are nominated by their institutions, which participate in the PCAOB Scholars Program based on their accreditation and the number of students they graduate with accounting degrees each year.
“Congratulations to the 2024-2025 PCAOB Scholars,” said PCAOB Chair Erica Y. Williams. “Having talented and diverse people join the accounting and auditing profession is key to the future of investor protection, and we are proud that our PCAOB Scholars Program helps outstanding individuals, such as this group of students, along this career path.”
The overarching goals of the Scholar’s Program are to benefit outstanding students who are likely to become auditors and to make a difference to eligible students who might otherwise pursue a different career path.
