The Town of Bluffton is seeking to find local high school seniors and college students who could be one of four of its ambassadors as safe drivers.
The town is currently accepting scholarship applications for up to four $1500 scholarships which will be awarded to the winners. Those selected will be from Bluffton High School, May River High School, private high schools, homeschooled seniors, or will be a current college/vocational school student.
“The “Stay Safe, Bluffton!” scholarships are awarded to honor academic and civic achievement while encouraging all students to influence their peers to be safe drivers in order to reduce vehicle incidents,” a town spokesperson said.
“Stay Safe, Bluffton!”, the spokesperson said, is a local safe driving campaign to reduce traffic collisions in our region and raise awareness of mindful driving, especially among our town’s younger residents.
The deadlines for applications will be March 1, 2025, and scholarship winners will be announced in April. The scholarships are made possible through the funds raised during the town’s annual 5K which will be held in conjunction with its Independence Day celebration.
“Town leaders say the campaign, annual 5K race, and resulting scholarships act as a reminder for everyone to #justdrive and be mindful of not multi-tasking while driving,” a town spokesperson said.
