ROCKWALL, TX (March 3, 2025) Twenty North Texas high school seniors collectively received academic scholarships of $276,000 over the next four years through the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation, part of the 2025 Annual College Scholarship program.  Addie Kelly and Kierra Willis, members of JER Chilton YMCA at Rockwall, are among the recipients.
Selections for scholarships are based on college entrance scores, high school grades, maintaining at least a 2.5 GPA, financial circumstances, impact of community service, interview, and a personal written letter.
“This group of 20 seniors has risen to the task throughout their entire high school career and has proven their commitment to excellence. Scholarships empower young people to follow their passions and improve their lives,” said Curt Hazelbaker, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. “We’re proud to support and celebrate their accomplishments.”
Individuals were formally awarded during the College Scholarship Reception on February 25th at Maggiano’s Little Italy Restaurant at North Park Mall.
“Every student should have access to a quality college education,” said Kathryn Allen, President of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Foundation.  “Our goal is to remove as many barriers as possible to create new opportunities for youth to thrive and evolve. One day, they’ll become leaders of our industries and help shape our communities. It’s important for us to build a solid foundation today so they can pursue their dreams in the future.”
Scholarship funds were made possible through the generous contributions of:
The Dye Foundation Scholarship, a four-year renewable fund sponsoring students who wish to attend college anywhere in the world; The Fina Foundation, a four-year, renewable scholarship which supports students who plan to major in law, math, science or international business; The Jordan Family Scholarship, The King & Phipps Foundation, Scholarship, and The YMCA Chairman’s Scholarship, a four-year renewable college scholarship, part of the Dallas YMCA Foundation.
