The Salida School District has announced that two members of their student body are finalists for two significant scholarships that have to do with leadership and excellence in their fields.

Finalist seniors Zeke Wilcox and Brennan King grew up in Salida and entered the Salida School District when they were young.
Wilcox and King are both finalists for the Daniels Scholarship Fund. This scholarship requires students to be independent, community-focused, entrepreneurial thinkers to qualify; these traits are like those of Bill Daniels, a Colorado native known for his philanthropy and entrepreneurship. Daniels used his money in order to change the world, and the hope of the Daniels Fund is to bring change to the world, one student at a time. Winners receive up to $25,000 a year to spend on school-related expenses for participating schools in Colorado and beyond.

Wilcox is also a finalist for the Boettcher Foundation Scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship must be intelligent and curious, driven to be involved in their community and school, and be compelling in character and circumstance. 50 initial winners will receive $20,000 for four years, with additional support depending on where the student attends.
Being a finalist is not the last step for these students. Now that they have been selected, King and Wilcox will need to go through an interview process to determine their merit.
The Salida School District is “incredibly proud of our finalists” and wishes them luck in the rest of the process.
