Latrobe Business and Professional Women this week announced the recipients of the 2024 Scholarship and Achievement awards.
Latrobe BPW spokeswoman Angela Apple added in a July 2 email, “This year, three exceptional young women have been awarded $1,000 scholarships to support their academic pursuits in higher education.
“Mikaela Shine, a graduate of Derry Area High School, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Mikaela plans to attend Boston College, where she will study elementary education. Her dedication to fostering young minds and her passion for teaching make her a deserving recipient of this award.
“Sarah Lazeski, a graduate of Greater Latrobe Senior High School, also has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Sarah will pursue her studies in business administration and finance at St. Vincent College. Her ambition and commitment to excellence in the field of business administration set her apart as an outstanding candidate for this scholarship.
“Abigail Wolfgang, another distinguished graduate of Greater Latrobe, has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Abigail will be attending Grove City College, where she plans to study mechanical engineering. Her enthusiasm for engineering and her academic achievements highlight her as a remarkable individual deserving of this recognition.
“In addition to the scholarships, the Latrobe BPW has awarded several achievement awards, each accompanied by a $250 check, to outstanding graduates from Derry Area High School, Greater Latrobe Senior High School, and the Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center.”
Greater Latrobe Senior
High School:
• Sarah Lazeski – Virginia S. Griffin Business Award;
• Eva Kadagishvilli – Mary Martha Himler Art Award, and
• Rachael Limani – Geraldine McCartney Award and the Jeanne Van Houten Award.
Derry Area High School:
• Mikaela Shine – Community Service Award, and
• Rebecca Huss – Communications and Technology Award.
Eastern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center:
• Tess Campbell and
• Arieal Rice.
Apple added, “The Latrobe BPW Scholarship and Achievement awards are part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to support and empower young women in the community. These scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, community involvement, and the potential to contribute significantly to their chosen fields.”
“We are thrilled to support these bright and ambitious young women as they embark on their educational journeys,” said Stacy Lemmon, scholarship chair of Latrobe BPW. “Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the promising futures they have ahead of them.”
