St. Peter’s Community Arts Academy (SPCAA) is increasing its outreach to young artists, thanks to a new scholarship initiative funded by the Brenda and Dave Rickey Foundation. The scholarships, designated for students living outside the Geneva City School District, aim to make performing arts education more accessible by covering partial tuition and travel costs for families.
“By supporting SPCAA’s scholarship fund, we hope to give local students the chance to experience the arts without financial obstacles,” said Brenda Rickey in a recent meeting focused on expanding the academy’s community engagement. The “Neighbors of Geneva” scholarships are available to new and returning students and are intended to reduce the financial barriers to arts education.
SPCAA’s Managing Director Kirsten Burrall said the academy’s mission, “Arts for All,” relies on scholarships to make high-quality arts instruction accessible. “We encourage all families to apply for scholarships to help cover tuition and make performing arts education a possibility for more students,” Burrall said.
As part of its community outreach, SPCAA will host an Autumn Open House on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families and prospective students are invited to tour the academy’s facilities, meet faculty, and explore a wide range of programs. The event will showcase SPCAA’s classes in cello, choirs, dance, guitar, piano, violin, voice, and ukulele, catering to all ages and skill levels.
Founded in 2005, St. Peter’s Community Arts Academy is a non-profit serving Geneva and surrounding areas, offering arts education for over 250 students weekly. Its curriculum includes programs for young children, such as Little Mozarts and Strings Explorers for ages 3 to 6, alongside classes for advanced students in various disciplines, from choir to instrumental training. Through dedicated instructors and community support, SPCAA continues to fulfill its mission of “Arts for All.”
