LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Rice Reps class of 2024 capped off the five-month Arkansas Rice program on Sunday at Loca Luna in Little Rock. Rice Reps and their families were present as students received scholarships while the class as a whole was recognized for their participation.
Kaitlyn Spencer of Cabot (Lonoke County) was the overall grand prize winner. Laura Grace Oxner of Searcy (White County) was awarded the overall second-place prize. Ellie Ferren of Searcy (White County) and Sadie Townley of Little Rock (Pulaski County) were the overall third-place winners.  Katie Kale of Marvell (Phillips County) was the overall fourth-place winner.
The goal of the Arkansas Rice Reps program is to encourage interest in rice promotion and to publicize the importance of the Arkansas rice industry to the state’s economy. Contestants were judged on their promotional activities, creativity, involvement, stewardship while participating in the program, and their knowledge of the rice industry.
The Arkansas Rice Council sponsors this program for high school seniors annually. Application information for the 2025 Rice Rep class will be available starting in March.
Other scholarships were given based on various social media and traditional media contests. A full list of scholarship winners can be found below.
During the program, Rice Reps will not only attend industry experiences but also seek other opportunities to learn and expand their knowledge individually. At the conclusion of the program, Rice Reps are able to submit a scholarship application showcasing their advocacy activities. Scholarship winners are awarded and recognized at the final reception following Rice Month in September.
