SAN JUAN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Pharr San Juan Alamo Early College High School senior was awarded an exemplary scholarship on behalf of Texas National Bank.
Senior Kazzandra Romero has spent her senior year building her resume and is heavily involved in many organizations on campus including National Honor Society, InterAct Club and UIL.
Romero is also Student Council President and leads students in multiple initiatives throughout the year.
However, Romero is most recognized as being the face of Bears News Network, PSJA ECHS’s Television Production Club. She has dedicated many hours to her craft as she reports on school events, athletics and honors all throughout the year.
“I was put in front of the camera and I didn’t know what to do, I was shaky and nervous if you see the first video, but it helped me build confidence in myself and that is something that I am proud of now,” said Romero.
The scholarship covers any and all continuing education costs at any university of Romero’s choosing. Romero plans to attend Texas A&M University this fall.
Romero is the first student in PSJA ECHS’s history to receive this award.
