Two Northumberland High School seniors recently received scholarships from Historic Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern (RHHT).
Checks were given out at Senior Recognition Night Monday, April 29, at the high school. Tavern director Corinne Becker presented Nathalie Biddlecomb and Casey Dawson $2,000 each, which will be used for their college expenses.
Biddlecomb will graduate with an advanced diploma and a transfer degree from Rappahannock Community College. She has excelled academically with a 4.5 grade point average (GPA). She also graduates with a STEM certificate from Rappahannock Community College through the Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School.
Biddlecomb has been a member of the National Beta Club and the SCA. She participated in volleyball since 2020. She was captain of the varsity and all-district. She also participated in the YMCA Bright Beginnings Program, NHS Freshmen Academy and Northumberland Association for Progressive Stewardship.
Biddlecomb plans to attend East Carolina University and pursue a degree in nursing.
Dawson will graduate with an advanced diploma with a 4.0 GPA. During high school, she took dual enrollment classes and has earned 25 college credits at RCC.
Dawson has won many photography awards, including the State Fair of Virginia and the National Beta Club. She is active in Future Farmers of America. She has been a member of the Girl Scouts since kindergarten and also is involved with the Ruritan Club.
Dawson plans to attend Sweet Briar College and major in education. Her goals include becoming an elementary school teacher with a focus on agricultural education.
