Some of the hundreds of North County students who received scholarships from the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara for the 2024-25 academic year.
The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara has awarded college scholarships totaling nearly $3.3 million to 941 students from northern Santa Barbara County for the 2024-25 academic year.
High school seniors were notified of their awards on April 26; all other recipients were notified on May 15.
A total of 671 students and alumni from Santa Maria and Orcutt high schools will receive a combined $2,206,776 in scholarships; 169 students and alumni from Lompoc high schools will receive a combined $565,905 in scholarships; and 101 students and alumni from Santa Ynez-area high schools will receive a combined $473,565 in scholarships.
All told, the Scholarship Foundation awarded $7,123,615 in scholarships to 1,784 students countywide.
Scholarships can be used for college, graduate, and vocational studies, including law school and medical school.
“These extraordinary numbers attest to the Scholarship Foundation’s clear commitment to North County communities and will come as no surprise to the many students and families we have served in the region over the years. We are immensely proud of our efforts to increase access to postsecondary education for students of all ages in our community as well as our partnerships with area high schools,” said Scholarship Foundation President and CEO Melinda Cabrera.
