The Simi Sunrise Rotary Club has awarded $17,500 in scholarships to 29 Simi Valley graduating seniors.
Candidates for the award demonstrated academic achievement and financial need and also were active in their community and school. At a meeting, scholarship winners had the opportunity to share their dreams and ambitions for the future along with where they will be pursuing their education.
The awards included three scholarships honoring students who have made a difference in the Rotary Club and the community, and who demonstrated compassion for others.
The three scholarships and their recipients are: the Savi Bhim One World One Rotary Scholarship (Avery Mulford), the Rob Hitchcock Memorial Scholarship (Naibe Luna) and the Blommendahl Memorial Scholarship (Jordan Wang).
“We are proud to provide these scholarships and to be a part of helping their dreams come true,” the Rotary Club said .
The scholarship winners are:
Apollo High School: Frank Macias, Maliyah Perez and Nicolas Quertermus.
Monte Vista High: Audrey Barajas, Ryan Candelaria and Liam Eaton.
Royal High School: Emily Ford, Rita Gerges, Ava Hermansen, Sahar Karimi, Naibe Luna (Rob Hitchcock scholarship), Emily Maher, Nikki Mix, Avery Mulford (Savi Bhim scholarship), Thomas Richards, Christina Stuck, Olivia Sullivan and Sean Vertuno.
Santa Susana High: Rhea Agnihotri, Adrina George, Nuria Cordon, Addison Hodge, Lura James and Shreeya Julakanti.
Simi Valley High School: Claire Fitzgerald, Quinn Heller, Shailen Mehta, Ashley Ruedy and Jordan Wang (Blommendahl scholarship).
