AKRON — Holy Trinity Lutheran Church announced graduating seniors Kaylee and Kaysie Anderson from Akron Early College High School are recipients of the 2024 Ernie Liska Memorial Scholarship. Each will receive $1,000. Holy Trinity established The Ernie Liska Memorial Scholarship in 2019 to provide financial assistance to high school seniors graduating from any Akron Public School who plan to earn a college degree or become certified in a vocational/building trade, and who reside within the city of Akron.
Kaysie Anderson graduated from Akron Early College High School and The University of Akron with an associate degree and has applied to attend Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md. and The University of Akron where she plans to major in computer science. While in high school, Kaysie was involved in many organizations and groups, including Summit County Youth Coalition, Coding Club, All-Akron Student Engineering Program and the Akron Urban League. She was the captain of the Akron Early College Dance Team and served as president of the Junior Ohio Black Women’s Leadership Caucus.
Kaylee Anderson also graduated from Akron Early College High School and The University of Akron with an associate degree and plans to attend Kent State University where she will major in English and minor in creative writing. While in high school, Kaylee was a member of the 3.0 Club and was on the honor roll. She was also a contributor to her high school’s literary magazine and participated in the running club and writing club.
