ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) – The Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) Chapter EE of Escanaba is holding its second annual rummage sale Thursday.
Member Kay Johnson said sale proceeds are used for scholarships at Bay College. Last year, she said the group raised $1,200 in one day.
Although the official sale day is Thursday, Johnson said they decided to open a day early in hopes of raising more money than last year.
“P.E.O. is dedicated and focusing on educational opportunities for all students, especially non-traditional students that are going back to seek a new career,” Johnson said.
Furniture, antiques, bedding and more are for sale. Additional items were being dropped off Wednesday night in preparation for the second day of the sale. It is at Johnson’s home at 1501 16th Avenue South in Escanaba. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Johnson said people who cannot make the sale but want to donate to the scholarship fund can call her at 906-235-2027 or Denise Young, the chapter president, at 616-648-4241.
